Seven thousand eight hundred hours more than operating room and an increase of 1.200 elective (non-urgent) surgeries per year. This is the potential of a remodeling of operating room activities that will allow the hospital Cardarelli di Napoli a better distribution of interventions over the 12 hours a day, meeting the needs of the many patients who every year choose to undergo thoracic surgery, general surgery (in three different departments), bronchology, orthopedics, urology, bariatric surgery, breast surgery, vascular surgery, otorhinolaryngology, ophthalmology.
The 12-hour activation of all 25 operating rooms in the pavilions dedicated to surgery and orthopedics will allow for an increase in elective surgical offerings, so as to better satisfy the continuous demand for surgical interventions by patients. Last year, Cardarelli performed approximately 14.000 elective interventional procedures in the branches of thoracic surgery, general surgery (in three different departments), bronchology, orthopedics, urology, bariatric surgery, breast surgery, vascular surgery, otorhinolaryngology, and ophthalmology. The continuous demand for surgical services by citizens has rapidly saturated the waiting lists.
