Naples, for some years, is no longer a hit-and-run summer destination: this is demonstrated by the room occupancy data which, on the weekend of Ferragosto, exceed 85%. A result that brings us back to the numbers of 2019.
In the hotel sector alone, there were over 40 guests between 11 and 15 August. “Tourists are there, now they need to be managed well – declares the president of Federalberghi Napoli, Salvatore Naldi -, positive data must be accompanied by adequate services.
For example, we really appreciated the museums open during the Ferragosto period. It is a significant sign of the desire to provide entertainment opportunities to our guests, even in the middle of summer”.
The large influx of tourists into the city is also leading, as a consequence, to the opening of new facilities in the coming years and therefore an increase in the number of rooms, which should grow by just under 8%, from 6000 to 6400. For this reason too, the city must raise the level of services offered.
“Every year we suffer from the inefficiency of public transport and the lack of decorum in the Port, on the seafront and in the historic centre, where disorder, illegal vendors and dirt reign. – continues Naldi -, we know of important projects that will concern the restyling of the Lungomare, but it is necessary to have a precise timetable that can allow all the economic operators in the area to organize themselves for the inconveniences that, obviously, they will have to endure”.
