The Naples Prosecutor's Office has established that the autopsy of the man, found dead by drowning in Capri, will be held tomorrow morning. Friends and family are currently searching to establish the man's identity.
The case is being followed by Prosecutor Silvio Pavia, who is conducting in-depth investigations to obtain information on the man, found lifeless shortly after 11 am in the sea in Capri by the Coast Guard on September 1st.
The causes of death of the body, which remained in the water for several hours in the Grotta dell'Arsenale, an area frequented by naturalists during the day, are still unknown and the subject of various hypotheses.
The autopsy scheduled for tomorrow morning will help to ascertain the details of the event that led to the death of a man between the ages of fifty and sixty. According to the initial reconstructions of the medical staff, the body presented a strong hemorrhage to the face and large lacerations along the back, probably also a visible wound to the head.
Considering the late hour, one of the possible hypotheses is that the man fell between the sharp rocks, a sort of protective barrier for the Cave, thus excluding suicide as a probable cause of death.
It is possible that a powerful or unusual wave caused the fatal impact that ended the life of the man as he was trying to cling to the rocks. However, the exact cause of death and the identification of the body will have to be confirmed by an autopsy that will take place tomorrow at the Institute of Forensic Medicine.
At this time, the identity of the man must be established by an acquaintance or family member. The only certain fact is that the man had spent the night on the island before his tragic death.
