During the week just begun a cyclone arriving from Balkans will threaten the African anticyclone Bacco, also causing the development of numerous temporal ready to hit some regions of theItaly. At the same time, in areas hit by rain and thunderstorms, the mercury will drop by several degrees.
“After a mostly warm and sunny weekend - Explains Antonio Sanò, founder of the website IlMeteo.it – here is that already today a small cyclone will detach itself, isolating itself, from a low pressure present over Scandinavia. The 'cold drop' will then travel from Eastern Europe to the islands of Greece to then reach the Ionian Sea. From this position it will be able to provoke a reinforcement of fresh winds from the eastern quadrants (Grecale winds) not only in the South, but also in the rest of the country".
Between tomorrow and Wednesday the Grecale currents will intensify, giving rise to a very unstable phase of weather in the South. "For this reason we expect an escalation of thunderstorms with sometimes strong phenomena, accompanied by some hailstorms. The most intense phenomena will be recorded above all in the Ionian areas of Calabria and Sicily, where up to 40 mm could accumulate in 24 hours, equivalent to 40 liters of rain per square meter" adds the expert.
Then, between Thursday and Saturday, while the weather will continue to be warm and sunny in the Center-North, the cold drop will gradually begin to lose energy, but will still be able to cause some thunderstorms in the Southern regions. Only from Sunday, September 10th will the African anticyclone return to dominate the scene also in the South, with increasingly stable weather, sunny and even warm for the period.
