Record increases for parking at the Afragola high-speed station

“E’ assurdo aumentare da 4 a 7 euro il costo per lasciare l’auto nel parcheggio of Station ofhigh speed di Afragola, soprattutto in un periodo come quello che stiamo vivendo con le famiglie alle prese con un’inflazione che non era così alta da anni”.

This was stated by the member of parliament of the Green Left Alliance, Francesco Emilio Borrelli, the municipal councilor of Afragola, Antonio Iazzetta and the territorial representative of Europa Vedre Salvatore Iavarone, specifying that “starting next November 1st, all the rates will change with increases that, in some cases, will be close to 100%, as in the case of daily parking, which will go from 4 to 7 euros, but also of the hourly rate which will go from 80 cents to 1,50 euros”.

Several citizens have come to the aid of Deputy Borrelli to raise the alarm.

“I am writing to you to make you aware of the unpleasant situation that many commuters who leave Naples every morning and arrive in Rome to work and ensure a dignified life for themselves and their families are about to face.

From November 1st, the parking at Afragola station, managed by Metropark, will cost not €4 per day but a whopping €7.

That is, an increase of almost 100%. An increase that is completely unjustified considering that the quality of the service will remain the same. Furthermore, it is important to underline that this company is in a monopoly situation considering that there are no valid alternatives for commuters considering that the Afragola station cannot be reached by bus or train lines.”

“Significant increases also for season tickets, both for those subscribed also having a train season ticket and for those accessible to all, independently of the train season ticket, with unsustainable increases for those who go to the station every day to take the train and reach Rome for work” they added Borrelli, Iazzetta and Iavarone for whom “instead of reducing the risks deriving from the continuous flooding of the underpass that one must travel through to reach the station and increasing road connections, the costs of parking are increased, which, among other things, is completely insufficient”.
