Un’esperienza musicale e sensoriale sublime, tra le magiche volte dell’Antico Arsenale della Repubblica di Amalfi in roccia viva, illuminate dalle sole luci delle candele.
The InCanti d'Autore festival makes its debut in Amalfi, a highlight of the complex program of Christmas events promoted by the Municipal Administration led by Mayor Daniele Milano.
Two extraordinary concerts, between December 27th and January 5th 2023, through which the great tradition of Neapolitan classical music lives again, contaminated by Latin jazz, bossa, contemporary funk and soul.
“Music, singing and acting of the Christmas storytelling, not only Neapolitan. – declares the events advisor, Enza Cobalto – The lights illuminate the vaults and the voices resonate through the natural acoustics of the ancient Arsenale, which acts as a backdrop: a very strong emotional impact in the heart of the great Amalfi history, home to the Compass Museum and the Maritime Duchy. All shows are free to enter.”
InCanti d'Autore opens tomorrow, Wednesday 27 December at 19 pm, with a concert by Lucy Kiely on vocals, Cherubino Fariello on guitar and Pietro Pinto on percussion. A “bossa” reinterpretation of all contemporary music. An acoustic formation (vocals, guitar, drums) that manages to project the spectator into emotional atmospheres that only “Bossa Nova” can instill.
Lucy Kiely is a jazz singer and songwriter from Sydney, Australia, now living and working full time on the spectacular Amalfi Coast. She is an exceptional singer with a rich and unique voice and delivers a fresh and sophisticated sound.

With her, on stage Cherubino Fariello, a versatile musician both as a classical guitarist and as a guitarist of pop, jazz, blues, rock music. In 2014 he took part in the making of the album "Run Away" with the Isolacustica quintet formation in which high-level musicians participated, climbing the iTunes charts for about a month. From 2002 to 2008 he was part of the Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare, participating in several international tours.
On the rhythm section Pietro Pinto, a drummer with a long career behind him with a passion for South America and pop/jazz. He began playing in the 60s in the most prestigious night clubs on the Amalfi Coast. During his career with the coastal group “Love Men” he gained international experience on cruise ships (Grimaldi Lines – Sitmar Cruises) playing in the States and Europe.
Great anticipation for the special guests of the concert on January 5th, again at 19 pm. The powerful and extraordinary voices of the “Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare” in “Anima di Terra Tour” will enchant the Amalfi audience.
In 1520 Magellan, circumnavigating the southern coasts of Argentina on board the ship Trinidad, saw fires along the coast and called those lands "lands of fires". These had been lit by the local natives, accustomed to gathering around large bonfires outside their huts, first of all to protect themselves from the cold, but also because, through the smoke and sparks, their prayers would more easily reach the sky and therefore the deities.
"Here in Campania, when fires are lit during a holiday or a religious celebration, the wood, by burning, returns the soul of the plant to the sky and protects from negative influences. Here too, these fires have always been the same for millennia and fulfill the task of transporting the prayers of the devotees to the sky. Today, the charm of this popular belief has given way, here in Campania, to a denigrating meaning, as the expression "land of fires" has become synonymous with "hell" due to the sad news stories that everyone knows: it is no longer wood that burns, but waste. – says the band – However, our region is also a land of “sounds”, a land that through its art and, above all, its music has exported history and culture, becoming an essential point of reference over the centuries”.
For all these reasons, the project of the Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare will be titled “Anima di Terra Tour”, a musical show composed of those songs of our tradition and our land, which give meaning to a new illusion. Thus it will be the notes, and no longer the contemporary fires, to convey our dreams or our prayers, so that they rise clear towards the sky. With Fausta Vetere on vocals and guitar, Corrado Sfogli on guitar, chitarra battente, mandola and bouzouki, Gianni Lamagna on vocals and guitar, Carmine Bruno on percussion, frame drum and tammorra, Marino Sorrentino on accordion, trumpet and flute, Michele Signore on violin, mandoloncello and lyra pontiaca, Pasquale Ziccardi on vocals and bass.
