A liquor factory and 6 tons of expired and untraceable food were kidnapped from the Carabinieri of the NAS of Salerno in the Nocera-Sarnese countryside. The military, assisted by personnel from the Prevention Department of the Local Health Authority of Salerno, inspected a food warehouse and proceeded to the administrative seizure of approximately 1,7 tons of food products without traceability indications and to the immediate destruction of 4 tons of various types of food products (including pasta, cured meats, cheeses, meat products, preserves) whose validity had expired, some even by more than a year.
The entire warehouse, which covers an area of approximately 600 square meters, was placed under "hourly closure" in agreement with the Prevention Department of the Salerno Local Health Authority (ASL) due to serious health and hygiene deficiencies and structural issues, including filthy flooring, cobwebs and mold on the walls, and the lack of restrooms and changing rooms.

The evidence acquired during the inspection allowed the NAS Carabinieri to trace the production of the beverages, which took place in a warehouse located in the Irno Valley. The warehouse was inspected together with personnel from the Salerno Customs and Monopolies Agency, where approximately 400 state certification stamps for alcoholic products were seized, as well as 50 bottles containing liqueurs, kegs and cans containing presumably alcoholic substances (estimated at 80 liters), numerous jars containing liqueur baba, and equipment for the production and packaging of the products, such as empty bottles and labels.
The entire facility was placed under precautionary seizure, as evidence gathered suggests that the business, registered as a wholesale warehouse, was producing alcoholic beverages without the necessary requirements, thus evading excise duty. The total value of the measures taken is estimated at €1 million, of which €250 related to food and €400 to alcoholic beverages. Administrative fines totaling €20 were assessed.
