This morning, the State Police personnel, assisted by the agents of the local Municipal Police command, carried out the seizure of a well-known restaurant located in Via Roma in Pompei.
The seizure was carried out in compliance with a preventive seizure order issued by the Preliminary Investigations Judge of the Court of Torre Annunziata, at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office.
The restaurant in question is strategically located in the heart of the city, a short distance from the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary and a few metres from the entrance to the Porta Anfiteatro Archaeological Park.
The seizure order was issued following an investigation conducted by the Pompeii Police Station, under the coordination of the Public Prosecutor's Office, which revealed that the restaurant business continued despite a provision by the Municipality of Pompeii.
The restaurant continued to be open despite the municipal closure order for health and hygiene reasons
The latter had decreed the expiration of the license for the exercise of the activity of serving food and drinks for health and hygiene reasons, ordering the closure of the restaurant.
The seizure order was adopted in consideration of the conduct of the investigated person, who continued to operate the restaurant business in violation of municipal provisions and without the necessary authorization.
The decision is based on the belief that the free availability of the commercial establishment could aggravate or prolong the consequences of the crime, as well as facilitate its repetition.
The crime for which the proceedings are being conducted is the one contemplated and punished by article 650 of the penal code, relating to failure to comply with the provisions of the Authority, considering the persistent disobedience to the order issued by the Municipality of Pompeii.
