Two women, mother and daughter, were reported yesterday in the prison of Aversa, in the province of Caserta, for having attempted to deliver hashish during an interview.
They were discovered by the two drug-sniffing dogs of the Penitentiary Police, Tyson and Spike, who smelled the presence of drugs in the mother's trousers and in the handbag of her daughter, who was just 19 years old.
Both were reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office for attempted introduction of a narcotic substance.
“This is a worrying episode that highlights the incessant attempt to introduce drugs and other prohibited objects into prisons,” they comment. Ciro Auricchio and Giuseppe Moretti, respectively regional secretary and president of theUspp (Union of Penitentiary Police Unions).
“In Campania, where there is a shortage of 800 agents, the need to equip the prison police with technologically advanced tools to more effectively combat these phenomena has long been urgent,” the two unionists underline.
“Our applause goes to the prison officers of Aversa who, despite the lack of staff, manage to maintain order and internal security, and above all to the two splendid examples of Belgian Malinois shepherds of the Avellino anti-drug detachment, Spike and Tyson, for the result achieved,” Auricchio and Moretti conclude.
