Starting next weekend, the free shuttle service for citizens and tourists will be back in operation, promoted by the Neapolitan marine protected area and supported by the Department of Tourism of the Municipality of Naples, with the contribution of the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE).
The service, managed by the Centro Studi Interdisciplinari Gaiola Onlus, will be active from June 15th every Saturday and Sunday in the months of June, July and August, with particular attention to the elderly and families with small children. The shuttle, called “GaiolEtta”, is an 8-seater electric vehicle, ideal for easily navigating the winding Discesa Gaiola.
Last year, the Gaiola Underwater Park had already introduced this service as part of the “Climate” project of the Ministry of the Environment, aimed at encouraging energy reconversion in protected areas. “We continue to focus on the usability of Gaiola after having registered the appreciation of the service by the elderly and families,” said Teresa Armato, Councilor for Tourism and Productive Activities.
“We are sure that this shuttle, with zero ecological impact, will increasingly encourage the rediscovery of a splendid area of our city, allowing many citizens and tourists to spend beautiful days at the seaside in Naples.” Maurizio Simeone, Director of the AMP Parco Sommerso di Gaiola, added: “We are happy to be able to get our GaiolEtta back on the road thanks to the support of the Municipality's Department of Tourism and Councilor Teresa Armato. A valuable collaboration that will allow us to ensure the service to many citizens and visitors this summer too.”
The shuttle service will operate from 8:30 to 18:30, with scheduled trips in the following time slots: 8:30 – 10:30, 12:30 – 14:30 and 17:00 – 18:30. The shuttle will depart from the Anm bus station in Capo Posillipo, offering convenient access to the Gaiola Underwater Park.
