Naples. Since the beginning of the year, the military of the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Naples and the officials of the Customs and Monopolies Agency of Naples 1 have intercepted over 70 passengers who were attempting to hide the transport of money exceeding 10.000 euros, without the required declaration.
Cross-border controls, intensified with the start of the summer season, have allowed the seizure of undeclared cash for a total amount of over 1 million euros, with the imposition of fines for over 33.000 euros.
The operation was conducted by customs officials and financial police of the Capodichino Company as part of monitoring and control activities on passengers arriving and departing from the Naples airport.
Checks on arrivals and departures
With particular attention to flights to and from the Middle East and North Africa, where money is often hidden in hand luggage or directly on the body of passengers.
Fundamental in this type of operation is the support provided by the Corps' drug-sniffing dogs, the so-called "cash dogs".
Among the seizures of greater importance, we note that of over 800 grams of gold in sheets, for a total value of over 53.000 euros, to an Italian traveler arriving in Naples from Spain.
The repression of the phenomenon of illicit cross-border transfer of cash represents a constant commitment for the Guardia di Finanza and the Customs and Monopolies Agency, to protect the economic and financial security of the country.
