The Welfare Councilor, Luca Trapanese, announces: “We received significant news today, a day of celebration. The Ministry of Labor and Social Policies, with decree 289 of September 13, gave its green light to our project.”
Il Reddito Alimentare is an innovative initiative that aims to distribute free of charge unsold food products, but still suitable for consumption, donated by operators in the food sector. This project has a dual objective: to reduce food waste and to offer concrete support to those living in conditions of severe poverty.
For the next three years, the Municipality of Naples will receive 1.424.911,40 euros, funds that will be donated to the third sector entities involved in the project. These entities, under the guidance of the Municipality, will take care of the distribution of donated food products.
Councilor Trapanese expressed his enthusiasm: “This project, although experimental, will bring relief to many families in economic difficulty, helping them to overcome the most critical moments. It is also a step forward in the fight against food waste. I am proud that Naples, among the few large Italian cities, has presented such an important initiative to address poverty in a structured and sustainable way.”
