San Gennaro World Award 2024, conceived and directed by Gianni Simioli

The San Gennaro World Award 2024, conceived and directed by Gianni Simioli, will be held in the Piazza del Duomo in Naples on Thursday 26 September, at 20.15:XNUMX pm. This prestigious award is made possible thanks to the patronage of the Campania Region - Scabec and the Department of Tourism and Productive Activities of the Municipality of Naples. The award is also included in the calendar of Patron Saint Festivals and is part of the project "Vedi Napoli d'estate e poi torni". The evening will be enriched by the media partnership of Radio Marte.

The Evening Program

Gianni Simioli, speaking about the twelfth edition, anticipated some key moments of the evening. Mayor Gaetano Manfredi will award Peppe Barra the City of Naples medal, recognizing him for “his immense art”. In addition, an award will be given in memory of Gaetano “Totò” Savio, famous author of unforgettable songs. His wife Jacqueline Schweitzer will collect the award. The ceremony will also see the participation of 12 voices from the city who will read the written motivations for the awarding of the prizes.

The 2024 Honorees

The San Gennaro World Award 2024 is awarded to illustrious personalities from the world of music, culture and art, including Peppe Barra, Arisa, Walter Ricci, Adriano Pennino, Francesco D'Alessio, Massimo D'Ambra, Ferdinando Tozzi, Monsignor Adolfo Russo, Lorenzo Marone, Carlo Morelli, Valeria Corvino and Ste. Each winner will receive a bust of San Gennaro made by the artisans of Scarabattola.

The Meaning of Awards

The awards honor artists and professionals who have made significant contributions to their field. Peppe Barra is hailed as one of the last great masters of Italian theater and music. Arisa is celebrated for her immense artistry and special connection to Naples. Walter Ricci is honored for his excellence in jazz, while Adriano Pennino is recognized for his long career as a musician and conductor. Monsignor Adolfo Russo will receive the award for his work in the scientific project that aims to recognize the devotion to San Gennaro as an intangible heritage of humanity.

Memorial Award and Rosario Padolino Award

In addition to the living awards, an award will be given in memory of Gaetano “Totò” Savio, whose work has profoundly influenced Italian music. The Rosario Padolino Award, established in memory of the merchant from Via Duomo who tragically passed away, will also be given. This year, the award will be given to Luigi Guadagno, another merchant from the neighborhood.
