Paolo Storari, public prosecutor of the Milan District Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA), has been placed under escort following the delicate investigation that led to the elimination of the top brass of Milan's football fans. The decision was made by the Prefecture at the request of Chief Prosecutor Marcello Viola, in light of the dangerous nature of the investigation and the alleged links with the 'ndrangheta of some of the individuals involved.
The security measures include an armed escort of two people, thus falling within the so-called “fourth level” of protection, and will have an initial duration of at least six months. The choice is part of a particularly delicate investigative context, which sees the world of organized football fans intertwined with that of organized crime.
This is not the first time that such a precaution has been adopted for DDA magistrates engaged in investigations of this type. Even the prosecutor Sara Ombra, co-owner of the file on the investigation in question, has long been under escort for her involvement in other investigations related to organized crime.
