The municipality of Agropoli has completed work to address the serious problem of erosion of the historic Marina beach, which has continued to progress over time, threatening public safety and the integrity of local infrastructure.
The decision was taken by the mayor, Roberto Mutalipassi, after having noted that the retreat of the shoreline has reached critical areas, in particular the inner breakwater and the junction of via Antonicelli.
The report drawn up by engineer Pasquale Di Luccio had already highlighted the urgency of immediate interventions to safeguard public and private safety. Without timely action, in fact, the deterioration of the rock structure could have worsened, leading to further washing away of the sandy and stone material and to an increase in risks for citizens.
Thus, in recent weeks, an order was issued that called for the construction of an artificial barrier with concrete blocks, intended to protect the dock and the wall. An action already implemented last year given the state of the area, now increasingly degraded. The work has now been completed.
While on the one hand the city hall reports the need for these, the citizens complain about the neglect of this coastal stretch between critical issues due to the posidonia beached and piled up for years at the foot of the cliff and the advancement of the sea line.
We are therefore asking for a decisive intervention and long-term planning for this area of the tourist port which has received little attention in recent times and has been almost entirely taken away from the bathers.
