A Serie D five-a-side football match in Angri turned into an episode of violence, with serious consequences. The match between Del Monte e Sporting Stabia was interrupted after some local fans attacked the visiting players, even using knives. A Sporting player was injured in his right hand and was taken to hospital.
According to Sporting Stabia management, the attack was particularly violent. One of the players was hit on the right hand with a knife, causing a wound that required medical attention. “It is not possible that sporting events become the scene of acts of such brutality,” the club said on social media. “These episodes destroy the spirit of the game and make sport a dangerous place.”
A shocked footballer from Castellammare di Stabia described what happened, explaining that the attack occurred without any provocation. “We were there to play, but everything degenerated in a few moments. It is not acceptable for someone to bring knives to a soccer game.” The deputy Francesco Emilio Borrelli, expressing solidarity with the team from Castellammare di Stabia, commented that episodes of this kind must be firmly opposed. He underlined how it is necessary “a radical change in the rules and controls, to prevent similar situations. We cannot tolerate that sport is used as a pretext to give vent to barbaric behavior.”
Borrelli He also called for the rapid identification of those responsible: “It is essential that all the protagonists of this shameful affair, especially those who brandished the knife, are identified and brought to justice.” This serious episode raises once again the issue of safety during sporting events, especially in amateur categories, which often lack adequate control systems. We now expect the authorities to take measures to ensure that similar episodes do not happen again and that those guilty of such violence do not go unpunished.

The situation of violence is worrying. Incidents like this should not happen in any sport. It is important that measures are taken to ensure the safety of players and fans.
I agree with you, but I hope the authorities act quickly to prevent similar incidents from happening again. Violence has no place in football, or any other sport.
