The prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, has issued a communication to all the municipalities of the metropolitan area and to the police forces, drawing attention to the recent circular from the Ministry of the Interior which provided the first operational provisions on the many regulatory changes made to the Highway Code and other provisions of law, adopted as part of a general project to review the system to increase road safety.
The Prefect highlighted, in particular, the changes to the Traffic laws which relate to various areas, such as infrastructure, signs, vehicles, driving conditions, rules of conduct, as well as road safety education.
Furthermore, the new regulatory provisions were highlighted regarding the circulation of mainly electric-powered scooters, the abandonment of animals, the minimum age for driving vehicles used for the transport of people and the increase in the amount of the administrative fine for violation of the provisions of the Highway Code in the event of late payment.
The Prefect has asked all the Municipalities in the metropolitan area to issue the appropriate instructions to their respective Local Police Commands so that they monitor the scrupulous observance of the legal provisions and has invited the Police Forces to proceed with the maximum dissemination, among the competent territorial branches, of the new provisions introduced, with the invitation to communicate any particular cases that have emerged in the territory, worthy of further investigation.
