Napoli – At the Mediterranean Tourism Exchange (BMT) in Naples, scheduled from 13 to 15 March at the Mostra d'Oltremare, an innovation is being presented that could revolutionise the way of moving around in crowded spaces: the electric trolley, a suitcase that transforms into a means of personal transport.
Article Key Points
Ideal for airports, train stations and trade fairs, this innovative product has already been adopted by the likes of Paris Hilton, who shared videos on social media in which she travels comfortably seated on her motorized suitcase.
Electric Micromobility Conquers the Future
The electric micromobility sector is booming, with scooters, e-bikes and e-scooters redefining urban travel. According to the8th National Report on Sharing Mobility 2024, published by the National Observatory on Sharing Mobility and promoted by MIT and MASE, the shared mobility market reached a turnover of in 2023 178 million euro, marking a slight growth despite the rationalisation of the offer.
But now, alongside the already known means, comes a product that aims to simplify travel in closed and crowded spaces: the Airwheel SE3 electric trolley, distributed in Italy by the company E-Comm Project. With an autonomy of 8 kilometers, a removable battery and a compact design, this device is designed for those who travel frequently and are looking for a practical solution to reduce the stress of travel.
A suitcase that takes you around
The Airwheel SE3 is not just a 48-hour luggage, but a real personal transport. "Travel is evolving and with it the needs of travellers," he explains Alessio Perrucci, CEO of E-Comm Project. "This product offers a practical solution to improve the travel experience. We are excited to present it at BMT and have the public try it out first-hand."
The electric trolley has already captured the attention of social media, thanks also to Paris Hilton, who promoted it on TikTok, and the content creator Angie Tutorials, whose review video has passed the 344 thousand views on Instagram. However, there are challenges: some airlines, such as British Airways, they still do not allow them to be carried in the cabin, mainly due to the lack of specific regulations.
A comparison with airlines
Precisely for this reason, participation in BMT represents for E-Comm Project an important opportunity not only to present the product to the public, but also to start a dialogue with airlines.
"I understand that some companies have not yet explored the features of the electric trolley," says Perrucci. "We will use the fair to speak directly with them, reassuring them about the safety and practicality of our product."
With tourism on the rise and micromobility increasingly in the spotlight, the electric trolley could soon become a must-have for travelers around the world. Naples, with its Mediterranean Exchange, thus confirms itself as a stage of excellence for innovation in the tourism sector.

The idea of an electric trolley seems very interesting and useful for those who travel a lot. But I wonder if airlines will accept it in the end. Not all people need a suitcase that moves by itself, but it is a step forward.
