Hellas Verona changes ownership: the club goes to the American fund Presidio Investors

Ufficiale il passaggio di proprietà dell’Greece Verona to the American fund Investors Presidium, based in Austin, Texas: the sale was announced via a press release from the club which marks the end of the management of Maurizio Setti, president for thirteen seasons.

“Presidio Investors, a private equity firm based in Austin, Texas, and Maurizio Setti are pleased to announce that Presidio has acquired 100% ownership of Hellas Verona Football Club,” we read in the official note. “Presidio will be committed to building a new path, starting from the foundations that Maurizio Setti created during his management.”

The leadership of the club will be entrusted to a qualified Board of Directors, with Italo Zanzi as Executive Chairman. Zanzi boasts a high-level resume, having held roles such as CEO of AS Roma, Managing Director of Fox Sports Asia and Vice President of Major League Baseball.

Maurizio Setti, despite giving up ownership, does not completely distance himself from the club: he will continue to contribute as Senior Advisor of Football Operations, supporting the technical staff and the sporting director Sean Sogliano. The management team will also include Simona Gioèwhich they will join Gennaro Leo e Sean Foley, manager with international experience.

In his farewell speech, Setti retraced the most significant moments of his presidency, which began 13 years ago: “Thinking back over these years, there are so many memories that make me feel proud and excited. From the first promotion in Serie A in my first year, at the last salvation of last season, we achieved unimaginable results, both on and off the pitch.”

Setti then thanked all those who collaborated on the project, recognizing the challenges faced and overcome thanks to dedication and teamwork. “Now a new chapter opens for the club and for the city of Verona. I am sure that Presidio Investors will represent a great opportunity for Hellas Verona and will work tirelessly to ensure the best possible future.”
