Avellino. A happy ending that warms the heart, especially in this holiday season. After years of suffering, five miscarriages and a hope that was almost extinguished, Rosa Maria Tropeano and Salvatore Picariello of Capriglia Irpina have become parents of a beautiful baby girl, Silvia.
The woman, who is over 47 years old, had faced a long and tortuous path, between attempts at assisted fertilization and surgical interventions, without ever managing to bring a pregnancy to term. The last resort was the decision to entrust herself to the care of Dr. Raffaele Petta, a gynecologist expert in sterility.
The pregnancy, obtained spontaneously, was however marked by several complications that required careful monitoring and various treatments. The birth, which took place in the 34th week by caesarean section at the Malzoni Research Hospital of Avellino, was induced due to premature rupture of membranes.
Little Silvia, who weighs 2,360 kg, was born healthy and well and is now under the care of neonatologists at the Malzoni Research Hospital.
“It's a dream come true,” said a moved new mother Rosa Maria, extending heartfelt thanks to all the medical staff who followed her during this extraordinary experience.
Silvia's story is an example of tenacity and hope, a testimony that shows how, even in the most difficult situations, miracles can happen.
