The battle against drug trafficking on the outskirts of Caserta knows no respite. Just ten days after the last blitz in Largo Rotonda, in San Nicola la Strada, where a 32-year-old Gambian was arrested for possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing, the Carabinieri of the local station have taken out four more dealers.
The operation, conducted yesterday afternoon, confirms a now consolidated modus operandi: the pushers act in broad daylight, regardless of the risk of being discovered, ready to sell drugs in exchange for money.
But this time, as increasingly often happens in the areas adjacent to the municipal villa in Largo Rotonda, the military were already in position. Two patrols, one of which in plain clothes, monitored the suspicious movements of the four non-EU citizens for a few minutes, documenting every phase of the drug dealing.
From the approach to the potential buyer to the delivery of the hashish, through the lookouts and accomplices charged with recovering the doses hidden in the flowerbeds or in the pockets of a hidden accomplice, the Carabinieri collected irrefutable evidence. Then, with a rapid and coordinated action, they swooped down on the pushers, arresting them on the spot.
Not only were the four dealers stopped, but also three young men from Caserta who had just purchased the doses. Identified and deprived of the drugs, the three were reported to the Prefecture of Caserta for the administrative sanctions of the case.
On site, the Carabinieri proceeded to search the pushers: two Gambians, a Senegalese and a Ghanaian, all already known to the police. Among the objects seized, some pieces of hashish ready to be packaged in doses, three doses already wrapped in transparent film, a knife, scissors and 115 euros in small denomination banknotes, presumably the result of the illicit activity.
After the formal procedures, the four were transferred to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison. The operation confirms the commitment of the police force in combating a phenomenon that, despite repeated interventions, continues to be a scourge for the territory. The fight against drug dealing, however, does not stop: the Carabinieri remain on alert, ready to intervene to guarantee the safety of citizens.
