Ischia – Attempted scam unmasked in Ischia, where the Carabinieri of the local company reported two young men with no criminal record, aged 19 and 18, originally from the Pianura district of Naples, for having tried to defraud a 75-year-old woman.
It all starts with a phone call received by the elderly woman on her landline. A so-called courier warns her that two postmen are arriving at her house to deliver “confidential INPS documents,” described as “urgent and important.”
The woman, without cash, begins to collect jewelry to deliver to the alleged couriers. But the scammers' plan is interrupted by the providential intervention of the victim's daughter and a friend, who are near the house.
Suspicious, the two women sense the scam and immediately alert 112. In the meantime, the daughter's friend manages to film the faces of the two young people with her smartphone, providing a key element for the investigation. The scammers, seeing themselves discovered, try to escape.
The two scammers blocked at the port of Ischia
The Carabinieri, thanks to the video, identify the two suspects and track them down in a few minutes near the port of Ischia, ready to embark for Naples. Stopped at the last minute, the young people were reported for attempted fraud. The application of the mandatory expulsion order by the municipalities of the island was also proposed against them.
A lightning operation that allowed the protection of theelderly and to bring those responsible to justice, thanks to the promptness of citizens and law enforcement.

It is truly incredible how some people can think of doing such a bad thing. I hope this woman has not lost too much and that the young people are punished for their wrongdoings.
Yes, that is true, but you also have to be careful not to trust those who call home. People should be more cautious, especially when it comes to money or valuables.
