And after killing him in front of the Papa Luciani school in Marano this morning he also called his ex announcing what he had just done: “And now go cry”. Then he hung up the conversation and after a few minutes he committed suicide nearby.
A tragic story of blood, a story of unbridled jealousy. It happened in Marano, in via Marano-Pianura: the protagonists were a 45-year-old man, Andrea Izzo, and his rival in love, Mirko Gargiulo, 32 years old, current partner of his ex-wife.
Immediately after the murder, Izzo took his own life, thus giving the episode the dramatic profile of themurder-suicide.
The murder of his love rival and then the phone call to his ex-wife
According to the initial investigations conducted by the Carabinieri, the killer would have waited for Gargiulo near a school, surprising him while he was on board his car, a white BMW. Riding a scooter, Izzo would have exploded at least five gunshots, fatally striking him.
A weapon that, according to witnesses, also jammed momentarily before the fatal shot. A few moments later, Izzo called his ex-wife, uttering a chilling phrase: “And now go and cry”, effectively confirming the sentimental motive for the crime.
The escape and the suicide
After the crime, Izzo fled towards the hilly area of Camaldoli, precisely in the Montelungo area, where he found refuge in an isolated place. It is there that, a few minutes after the ambush, he took his own life. His lifeless body was found by the carabinieri.
Previous threats
The victim, well known in the Neapolitan gym scene, had already reported Izzo in the past for serious threats. A latent tension that turned into tragedy. According to investigative sources, Izzo attempted a direct confrontation with the victim several times, until reaching the extreme decision that probably matured in the context of an escalation of jealousy and resentment.
The investigations are coordinated by the Carabinieri of the Company of Marano, led by the major Alberto Leso, and subsequently passed under the jurisdiction of the military of the Provincial Command of Naples.
Investigators are collecting testimonies and reconstructing in detail the dynamics and timing of the events, trying to fully understand the motivations that drove Izzo to commit the double act.

The crime has occurred in broad daylight, in a densely populated and busy area, a few steps from a school. The episode has sown panic among residents, students and families in the area.
