Naples – In the beating heart of Forcella, the Teatro Trianon-Viviani stands as the guardian of memory and a bastion of Neapolitan tradition, dedicating a heartfelt and multifaceted tribute to an icon of its stage: Nino Taranto.
The “Commendatore del Teatro”, whose art continues to resonate in the collective imagination, is at the center of a celebration that ranges from exhibitions, shows and literary presentations.
After the recent naming of the steps that connect Piazza Vincenzo Calenda to Via Salvatore Trinchese, a symbolic gesture that establishes the visceral bond between Taranto and its hometown, the Teatro della Canzone napoletana has inaugurated a commemorative path steeped in art and emotion.
The journey into memory began with the opening of the iconographic exhibition “Nino Taranto. Born in Forcella, actor by profession”. Curated with sensitivity by the critic Giulio Baffi, the exhibition
position offers an intimate look at the artist's long career through photographs, vintage posters and precious props, jealously guarded by the family. Each image and relic tells fragments of theatrical history, unforgettable lines and the affection of his audience.
The culmination of the celebrations is expected on Saturday, April 19 at 21:XNUMX p.m. with the show “Once upon a time Nino Taranto… The man, the story, the legend”. Created and performed by the talented Alessia Moio, accompanied by her mandolin, the recital – with the historical advice of journalist Giuseppe Giorgio – delves into the most intimate and human sphere of Taranto, restoring its artistic greatness together with its daily life, affections and melancholies.
A show that promises to be a true love song to the artist and an entire golden age of Neapolitan theatre.
To anticipate this tribute, the already applauded event with Massimo Masiello was repeated, directed by Giuseppe Sollazzo, a further piece of a mosaic aimed at rediscovering the man and the artist, rather than celebrating his fame.
The tribute will ideally conclude on Thursday, April 24 at 18:XNUMX p.m. with the presentation of the autobiographical volume “Nino Taranto. Una vita per Napoli” (Homo Scrivens), edited by Diego Nuzzo and prefaced by Maurizio de Giovanni.
Marisa Laurito, artistic director of the theater, the actor Tommaso Bianco and Giuseppe Giorgio, authoritative voices of the Neapolitan scene, will be speaking to the audience. The notes of pianist Bruno Troisi will be the soundtrack to the meeting, evoking the atmosphere of the black and white variety show, with Naples in the background.
With this initiative, the Trianon-Viviani does not limit itself to commemorating, but to reviving the light of a protagonist of Neapolitan culture, capable of mixing irony and depth.
In a frenetic era, these days dedicated to Nino Taranto represent a precious invitation to slow down and listen to the voice of an artist who brought the heart of Forcella to cinema, theater and song. A heart that continues to beat on the stage of the Trianon.
