The properties subject to the concession are the Royal Palace, the Caramanico Palace and Garden, the Upper Forest and the Lower Forest
This morning, in the splendid Chinese Hall of the Reggia, the Metropolitan Mayor, Luigi de Magistris, and the Rector, Matteo Lorito, have signed the new Agreement between the Metropolitan City of Naples and the Federico II University of Naples for the concession of use of part of the spaces of the Bourbon Royal Palace, to be used for educational and research purposes of the University's Department of Agriculture.
The agreement will last 9 years and is renewable for a period of the same duration. Among the novelties, the establishment of a multidisciplinary Museum Center with a ring-shaped exhibition route developed throughout the Piano Nobile, for which the University undertakes to free up the spaces still occupied and the Metropolitan City to restore them with the use of a substantial portion of the fees.

The properties subject to the concession are the Royal Palace, net of the spaces that will constitute the Museum Centre of the Reggia, the Caramanico Palace and Garden, the Upper Forest with the existing buildings – including the Castle – and the Lower Forest, to be managed in a shared manner.
The Convention – which was also signed by the Director of the Metropolitan Authority's Heritage Department, Carlo de Marino – establishes the common will of the Metropolitan City and the University to collaborate to relaunch the Reggia di Portici through the implementation of interventions aimed not only at the conservation of the monumental complex, but also at the promotion of cultural activities designed to enhance public enjoyment of the property.

The main novelty of the agreement consists, in fact, in the sharing of the objective of creating a ring-shaped exhibition route developed on the entire Piano Nobile of the Palace, which systematizes the historical-cultural functions, developed on the sea side, and the scientific functions, developed on the mountain side, thus starting the process of building the 'Museum Complex of the Palace of Portici', that is to say a Museum - unique in its kind - integrated with historical-cultural functions and scientific functions, as characteristic and characterizing elements of the history of the Bourbon Royal Palace.
