"For Giancarlo Siani. From the truth about the crime to the mystery of the dossier" is the title of the book that the newspaper "The morning” will give as a gift to its readers Thursday September 23 to remind Giancarlo Siani on the 36th anniversary of his death at the hands of the Camorra.
The presentation of the volume will take place as a national preview Tuesday September 21 at 17.30 in the Hall of Angels of the Suor Orsola Benincasa University, home since 2003 to the first School of Journalism in the Southern Peninsula with a classroom named after Giancarlo Siani in 2008.
For health safety reasons, the presentation will be by invitation only and will be broadcast live on the website www.ilmattino.it and on the Facebook pages of “Il Mattino” (www.facebook.com/ilmattino.it) and of the Suor Orsola Benincasa University of Naples (www.facebook.com/unisob).
At the presentation of the book, which will be introduced by the Rector of Suor Orsola, Lucio d'Alessandro, the director of “Il Mattino” will speak, Federico Monga, the director of the “Suor Orsola Benincasa” School of Journalism, Marco Demarco, the president of the Pol.is Foundation, Don Tonino Palmese and the honorary president of the Giancarlo Siani Foundation, Geppino Fiorenza.
Among others, the mayor of Torre Annunziata will be present at Suor Orsola to pay homage to the memory of Giancarlo Siani, Vincenzo Ascione, the national anti-mafia prosecutor, Federico Cafiero De Raho, the police commissioner of Naples, Alessandro Giuliano, the secretary of the Campania joint journalists' union, Claudio Silvestri and the prefect of Naples, Marco Valentini.
"For almost twenty years, since the foundation of our School of Journalism, the Suor Orsola Benincasa University, with the many professional journalists who have been and are part of our teaching staff, has contributed to a constant and not 'conventional' memory of the figure of Giancarlo Siani. – underlines the Rector Lucio d'Alessandro – and above all of his exemplary educational legacy for all young people who are approaching a profession that, although it has changed a lot over the years, must never lose the compass of freedom and independence in the search for truth. I believe that the fact that the very young people enrolled in our School of Journalism find at the entrance of their main study room a simple plaque dedicated to Giancarlo Siani and work in places named after him constitutes an important warning that positively marks their training as journalists open to the world of freedom and justice".
"The Siani murder was the largest Camorra crime ever committed in Campania”. The historic phrase of Armando D'Alterio, public prosecutor in the first-degree trial of the killers and instigators of the murder of Giancarlo Siani, is included in the anthology of the many investigative articles on the Siani case that have been published in the pages of “Il Mattino” starting in 1993 and are now collected for the first time in a single volume.
"I assure you that the newspaper will not give the investigators any respite in finding the perpetrators and instigators. This is what the director Sergio Zavoli told us in 1993, the only time my father, with great emotion, crossed the threshold of via Chiatamone”. This is how Paolo Siani, Giancarlo's brother and advisor to the Giancarlo Siani Foundation, recounts in the book what was the impetus for a long investigative work conducted by the newspaper that had belonged to Giancarlo Siani to contribute to the search for the truth about his murder, in the wake of the investigative journalism traced by the young reporter killed by the Camorra.
In the book edited by journalists Peter Perone e Leander of Joy among others, there are contributions from the former director of Mattino Paolo Graldi and some of the newspaper's historic signatures (Giuseppe Crimaldi, Daniela De Crescenzo, Gigi Di Fiore, Pietro Gargano, Raffaele Indolfi, Giampaolo Longo and Antonino Pane).

In the book by “Il Mattino” “For Giancarlo Siani. From the truth about the crime to the mystery of the dossier” there is also a beautiful literary memory of the actor Free De Rienzo, who passed away last July 15, who had one of his greatest cinematic successes in 2009 thanks to Giancarlo Siani's interpretation in the film Fortapasc di Marco Risi.
"The film Fortapàsc dedicated one of its initial scenes to the need to resort to courage, an inalienable good.”, writes the sister to remember Libero and Giancarlo together. During the presentation of the volume, this very writing will be the subject of a reading by the actress Nadia Carlomagno, director of the Master in “Theater, pedagogy and teaching” at the Suor Orsola Benincasa University and also one of the interpreters of Fortapàsc.
