Wednesday 30 March 2022 (21pm) arrives at the Carlo Gesualdo Theatre in Avellino Luca Argentero in “Is this the life I dreamed of as a child?”, the event, exclusive to Campania, is among the non-subscription events curated by Anni 60 produzioni in the Irpinia theatre.
In the show, Luca Argentero tells the stories of three Italian athletes who have made entire generations dream, cheer, laugh and cry: Luisin Malabrocca, the cyclist who invented the Maglia Nera, in whom people recognized the anti-hero that is in the heart of every Italian; Walter Bonatti, the mountaineer who, after overcoming incredible challenges, discovered at his own expense that the greatest threat to man is man himself; Alberto Tomba, the unusual skier from Bologna who gathered the entire nation around his races, embodying the Italian rebirth of the 80s.
Three great characters with extraordinary lives who have profoundly influenced society, history and their discipline, told from both a human and social point of view, with particular attention to the story of the times in which they lived.
Starting from the personal reflection "is this the life I dreamed of as a child?" which gives the title to the show, the most beloved "Doc" of Italian TV will retrace the lives of these reference figures who inspired him. Unique stories like that of Luisin Malabrocca, the cyclist who in the first Giro d'Italia after the war realized by chance that arriving last, in a devastated Italy like that of '46, made people like him, from whom he received salami, cheese and oil as gifts of solidarity and, automatically, also attracted the attention of some sponsors, to the point that arriving last earned him more than trying to win.
Or of Walter Bonatti, the mountaineer who, after overcoming incredible challenges with the rock, the climate and the mountain, having reached over eight thousand metres above sea level, almost to the summit of one of the most difficult mountains to climb in the world, K2, discovered at his own expense that the greatest threat to man is man himself.
Yet, the great disappointment of K2 pushed him even further to test himself in new solo challenges, new impossible climbs and finally to travel around the world. All this to find the most important thing in life: himself.
And then, Alberto Tomba, the Olympic champion who stopped the Sanremo Festival with his victories and who with his lightness in life and aggressiveness on the slopes became known throughout the world as “Tomba the bomb”. One of the greatest champions in the history of skiing who gathered the entire nation around his races, embodying the perhaps illusory but certainly carefree Italian rebirth of the 80s.
Three completely different stories, three characters united by one characteristic: having become, each in their own way, heroes.
