Naples, workers and unemployed burn bills. Eddy Sorge: “The election campaign is far from the needs of the country.”
"We are here because, as is happening in many parts of Europe: the proletariat, the unemployed and the workers are tired and can no longer pay for the crisis, the war and the speculations. This symbolic initiative of burning the now skyrocketing bills goes hand in hand with an enormous cost of living".
Thus Eddy Sorge of the 7 November unemployed movement explains this morning's mobilization in front of the post office in Piazza Matteotti in Naples, in which about a hundred people took part.
“The prices of goods are increasing – explains to the DIRE agency – and also of gasoline, of services, and this is combined with the enormous cut in the citizen's income for those who have had a conviction in the last ten years. These increases no longer make survival possible. There is an electoral campaign distant from the real and concrete needs of people and therefore we are here to appeal to the many who live from their work and who no longer want to accept this blackmail of poverty and exploitation. After September 25, nothing will change if there is not a mass movement capable of putting our needs at the center: guaranteed wages, everyone working, working less, an extraordinary plan for work and for securing the territories".
