Avellino, punches, headbutts and clubs against the agents in prison. The Uspp union: "Enough aggression", the state of agitation of the members has been proclaimed
“In the Avellino prison, yet another episode of violent aggression has taken place against two prison officers on duty, for trivial reasons.
The attackers, two prisoners, an Italian and a foreigner, acted with punches and headbutts; one of the two, brandishing an iron rod, attempted to hit one of the two policemen, who, in trying to avoid it, suffered injuries to his arm”.
The violence was reported in a press release by the president and regional secretary of the Uspp Giuseppe Moretti and Ciro Auricchio. “The other colleague was headbutted in the face – continues the note – and both were forced to undergo treatment in hospital."
The union “says no to attacks on staff” and “they continue to occur in the institutions of Campania. A few days ago an inmate, the son of a boss, broke the nose of a Poggioreale officer.
And everything happened, as happens in other institutions, with the total indifference of the penitentiary administration".
For Moretti and Auricchio "what is happening shows that we can no longer waste time. There is now a risk that someone will die."
The Uspp asks “the establishment of a central crisis unit and an urgent interinstitutional table to introduce regulatory changes aimed at increasing penalties and disciplinary sanctions”. Furthermore, Moretti and Auricchio conclude, “we ask for the suspension of the open management regime for prisoners guilty of these acts for which they should also be denied the benefits of the law”.
The union finally proclaims “the state of agitation of the personnel registered in Campania“, and says he is ready to implement “forms of dissent and any useful initiative to ensure that our appeals are taken into consideration by the administrative leaders and the Government”.
