The Rome appeal judges have acquitted Michele Senese, known as 'O' Pazz', in the second-degree trial linked to the mega-operation “Affari di Famiglia”.
The magistrates also dropped the aggravating circumstance of facilitating the Camorra-style mafia clan for all the defendants. In the first instance, Senese, defended by the lawyer Valerio Spigarelli, had been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The boss is serving a 30-year prison sentence for the murder of Giuseppe Carlino, which took place on September 10, 2001 in Torvaianica. The appeal judges have, among others, reduced the sentence for his son, Vincenzo Senese, from 16 to 11 years, and from 7 years to 2 years and 8 months for Raffaella Gaglione, wife of clan leader.
The magistrates also sent the documents to the Public Prosecutor's Office Napoli, declaring themselves incompetent, for some positions including that of Alessandro Cosentino, historical leader of the Neapolitan ultras fringe Fedayn, defended in court by lawyers Emilio Coppola and Ylenia Maiuri. The contested charges, depending on the positions, range from extortion, usury and money laundering.
