The trial of Antonio Luigi Zampelli, 62 years old, from Ponte, defended by the lawyer Angelo Leone, accused of the attempted murder of Gianni Zampelli, from Benevento, who joined the proceedings as a civil party and was defended by the lawyer Vittorio Fucci, was held before the Court of Benevento (President Rotili, associate judges Nuzzo and Monaco).
Michele Zampelli, Gianni's father, is also a civil party in the trial as the owner of the car damaged by the gunshots, defended by the lawyer Isidoro Taddeo.
Antonio Luigi Zampelli is also accused of illegally carrying in a public place a semi-automatic pistol caliber 7,65 Beretta brand. As you may recall, the attempted murder occurred on January 12, 2020, in Ponte, when Antonio Luigi Zampelli fired several gunshots at Gianni Zampelli, while he was driving his Volkswagen Golf.
In particular, one of the shots fired in the direction of Gianni Zampelli's body hit the car he was using, piercing the trunk door but getting stuck in the sheet metal of the car just 13 cm from the top of the seat back and not coming out only thanks to the double-chamber metal frame of the seat back structure which acted as a barrier.
Antonio Luigi Zampelli and Angelo Zampelli were also subjected to precautionary measures, later revoked. During the hearing, the victim, Gianni Zampelli, a Marshal and a Brigadier of the Carabinieri were questioned.
Gianni Zampelli confirmed the dynamics of the conduct carried out by Antonio Luigi Zampelli and Angelo Zampelli against him. Angelo Zampelli was previously judged separately with an abbreviated trial and sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment. The trial against Antonio Luigi Zampelli, however, was postponed to continue until December 05, 2023.
