Over 20 thousand visitors have so far been able to admire Sergio Siano's photos and authentic memorabilia of the Argentine champion.
These are the last days available to see the exhibition “Maradona, the rebel genius” in Pompeii, which since last April has enchanted over 20 thousand visitors, including adults and children, football fans and non-fans, with photographs of Diego’s most beautiful magic moments with the Napoli shirt and with original memorabilia of the Argentine champion.
The exhibition will be open until June 9, 2023 at the Temporary Museum in Piazza Bartolo Longo in Pompeii. Admission is free. Only a few more days, then, to be enchanted by the 140 photos of photojournalist Sergio Siano, which tell the story of a well-rounded Maradona.
There is “El pibe de oro”, the undisputed leader who drew football on the green rectangle of the San Paolo, but there is also the man, the generous soul who, away from the spotlight or during training, showed his most sensitive side and was ready to help others. The exhibition also features photos of the most picturesque celebrations, along the streets of Naples, of the first two Scudetti in 1987 and 1990.
On display, absolutely not to be missed, are approximately 100 authentic memorabilia of the Argentine champion (balls, shirts, shoes, captain's armbands and many others) on loan from the Vignati Museum in Naples, set up by Massimo Vignati.
Over 20 thousand visitors, as mentioned, have been able to admire the photos and memorabilia displayed in the exhibition that opened its doors on April 2. Since then, the exhibition has captured the interest of citizens, tourists, Napoli fans but also sportsmen in general, beyond the football colours.
The emotional wave of Napoli's third Scudetto, won by the Azzurri during the opening days of the exhibition, did the rest and pushed many curious people to learn more about the history of Maradona's victorious Napoli.
Even important names from the past of the Neapolitan football club have visited the photos and memorabilia exhibited in Pompeii. In recent months, Corrado Ferlaino, the president of Napoli during the first two Scudetti and who brought Maradona to the national team, have taken turns; Gianni Improta, Napoli striker in the 70s; Salvatore Carmando, the historic masseur of the blue team during Diego's golden years and, finally, Antonio Careca, the Brazilian striker who, together with Maradona, was the architect of Napoli's successes between the end of the 80s and the beginning of the 90s.
The photographic and material exhibition “Maradona, the rebel genius” is created by Art and Change with the patronage of the Municipality of Pompeii and is curated by Kaos48.
