42 thousand volumes, vinyls, themed itineraries and a pop culture section.
The Feltrinelli Chiaia megastore, which in over twenty years has seen national and international literary personalities such as Josè Saramago, Banana Yoshimoto, Amos Oz, Daniel Pennac, Gore Vidal, Alessandro Baricco, Antonio Tabucchi, Stefano Benni pass through its shelves, opens a new chapter in its history. The new bookstore in Piazza dei Martiri reopens, after the restyling interventions, and offers readers an environment defined by furnishings made with recycled materials that host thematic editorial proposals - such as the one designed to enhance local intellectual resources and the history of the territory - and by large hanging lamps.
The new design sees the presence of 42.000 titles on the shelves spread across the entire sales area. At the same time, it offers transversal paths of knowledge and entertainment that each reader can undertake starting from their own interests and preferences. At the entrance, the public is welcomed with the best of contemporary fiction, from national and international news to best-sellers and long-sellers.
The tour continues on the two floors where the different “islands of culture” branch out, sectors that intersect literary genres with the passions of readers. On the ground floor, the International Bookshop is the proposal space with over 4.000 titles entirely dedicated to literature in English, French and Spanish.
On the -1 floor, the Children's Bookshop hosts over 7.000 reading suggestions for the little ones. The new vinyl section is dedicated to music lovers with a proposal of 1.200 references. Continuing on, you reach the section entirely focused on Pop culture in all its expressive variants: from Manga to Fantasy to Comics. Designed for younger readers (but not only), this section also includes suggestions from Booktokers and the rankings of books that populate the TikTok and Wattpad platforms.
To complete the offer, there is also a series of digital innovations, proposed to make the purchasing process more immediate and fast: from the presence of self-check out cash registers that allow you to streamline the queues to the possibility of making payments on the go directly to the bookseller. Technology is also at the service of reading recommendations, thanks to the Whatsapp service that allows you to always stay in touch with the team of booksellers in Piazza dei Martiri to place orders and receive advice on upcoming readings.
The opening night, Tuesday 11 July starting at 19.30:XNUMX, will be a great party with many authors, local voices and friends of the bookshop. Among the names already confirmed: Erri De Luca, Viola Ardone, Maurizio De Giovanni, Rachele Furfaro, Wanda Marasco, Titti Marrone, Valeria Parrella.
