A 45-year-old man was arrested by the Carabinieri following a robbery committed against a woman who was driving her car. The man was discovered thanks to security cameras.
The attacker, originally from Turin but a long-time resident of Giugliano, needed money. Having identified a 35-year-old woman, who was shopping at the time, he pointed his gun at her to force her to hand over her personal effects.
Even though the victim's bag contained only a cell phone and a wallet with enough money to buy groceries, the gunman took the loot and fled.
The Carabinieri of the Qualiano station immediately began their investigations and, thanks to the description provided by the victim and the video surveillance images in which the car used for the escape was clearly visible, a Renault Clio which was later discovered to be registered to the attacker, they managed to identify the man.
Andrea Maisto, already known to the police, made a fatal mistake that cost him dearly. The military reached him at his home and also found the shirt he was wearing when he committed the robbery, clearly identified by security cameras.
Maisto was arrested and is currently in jail waiting to appear before a judge to tell his version of events and answer to the charge of aggravated robbery.
