Hours of fear and apprehension in Montoro, in the province of Avellino, where due to strong winds the sheet metal panels of the roof of the “Giovanni Ronca” hotel institute, which had been undergoing external renovation work for weeks, were uprooted.
The sheet metal flew away for tens of meters and hit two cars, seriously damaging one of them, of as many teachers parked in the school yard. There were no injuries. The 350 students, through protected routes, were evacuated by the Fire Brigade.
The Province of Avellino, which has jurisdiction over the maintenance of secondary schools, has decided to close the school for the next five days.
