The 3th edition of the “International Exhibition of Nativity Scene Art”, an event organized by the Pro Loco association of Giffoni Valle Piana directed by president Claudio Mancino, will officially open on Sunday 19 December at 00:28 pm at the San Francesco Monumental Complex.
A historic Christmas event for the municipality of Giffoni Valle Piana and for the entire Picentini area. From Sunday until next January 8, it will be possible to immerse yourself in Christmas art in the splendid setting of the Monumental Complex of San Francesco. The event is sponsored by the Campania Region, the Municipality of Giffoni Valle Piana, Touring Club Italiano, Giffoni Experience, GAL Colline Salernitane, Unpli, Consorzio Pro Loco Picentini, Valle del Primo Presepe, Municipality of Greccio, Salerno Comics School, Sud Academy of Applied and Digital Arts, Sotto Saturno.
“Inclusion” is the theme of the 28th edition of the Exhibition. “Inclusion is manifested in opening our arms to welcome without excluding; without classifying based on social conditions, language, race, culture, religion. Before us there is only one person to love as God loves them”. The creation of the Christmas event starts from this thought of Pope Francis. Visitors will have the opportunity to observe over 100 works. The exhibition will present three rooms: one linked to a monographic review of the traditional Neapolitan nativity scene, with the exhibition of works created by artists from Campania. A second room will host the works of associations from different Italian regions: Campania will be represented by Amici del presepio di Padula, Associazione Culturale Ortica, Associazione Mente e Coscienza, Casal Faustino, Cooperativa Sociale Giovamente-Cooperativa Saremo Liberi, Figli in Famiglia Onlus, Associazione Impegno e Solidarietà, Lega Del Filo d'Oro. Piedmont will be represented by the associations Anffas Onlus Borgomanero and Centro Gazza Ladra; Lombardy by Comunità Casa di Dario; Trentino Alto Adige by Laboratorio Sociale; Veneto by Cooperativa Sociale Orsa Maggiore, Basilicata by Cooperativa Oltre l'Arte, Sicily by Giacomo Randazzo. The third international hall will host artifacts from Spain and the African continent with “Africa Mission Cooperation and Development”.
Many collateral initiatives: a special section dedicated to new visual languages will also be set up, which will host works created by students of the Scuola Salernitana del Fumetto Comix. The collaboration with the kids and the various schools in the area is always active to transmit the passion and art of one of the longest-standing traditions in the area. In particular, a deep collaboration with the Istituto Comprensivo “Don Milani-Linguiti” of Giffoni Valle Piana and the Istituto Comprensivo “A. Genovesi” of San Cipriano Picentino is planned. Finally, in the name of the theme of the 2023 edition, national and local volunteer associations will be protagonists with events and initiatives dedicated to people in difficulty, the last and the invisible.
