The president of Charlot Prize, Claudio Turtledove, expressed concern about the Government's abuse of power in the management of the Development and Cohesion Funds, believing that it is trying to take on responsibilities that belong to the Region.
Tortora highlighted the importance of these funds to support cultural and artistic events such as the Charlot Award, the Giffoni Film Festival and the Ravello Festival, and stressed the risk of losses not only in the cultural sector but also in terms of employment.
He also criticized the silence and alleged manipulation of facts by those responsible, calling the situation an abuse of power. Tortora praised President Vincenzo De Luca for his commitment to clarifying the issue and defending the Region's demands.
The situation, as highlighted by Tortora, puts at risk not only cultural operators, but also all the people involved in organizing the events.
“Funding – he explains – cannot be frozen any longer, there is a risk of losing a lot, not only in terms of events, but also in terms of work, because behind every event there are dozens and dozens of people who work there and without those funds it is not just us operators who are at risk, but all those who work with us.
Despite this, despite this right that is denied to us, President De Luca has repeatedly invited to a confrontation the subjects who should have consented, having in their hands, according to them, the truth. But this was not the case, there was only a deafening silence and mystification of the facts.
In my opinion, we are faced with a real abuse of power and distortion of reality and thank goodness we have a politician like De Luca who doesn't mince his words but intervenes on the merits with all his strength and intellectual honesty"
