Italy is preparing to face Cyclone della Colomba, a disturbed system that will bring rain, strong winds and snow to many areas of the country.
The cyclone will send two disturbances that will follow one another over Italy at least until Wednesday 27 March.
Monday will be mostly sunny, with cold temperatures in the morning in the North and pleasantly spring-like temperatures during the day in all regions.
From the early hours of Tuesday the weather will worsen with precipitation, initially weak, then gradually more moderate and widespread, especially in the Center-North. Snow will return to the Alps on average above 900-1100 meters.
The most powerful disturbance will arrive on Wednesday, with rain, thunderstorms with local hail and snow on the Alps at around 1200 metres.
The South will remain on hold, in fact here the weather will worsen significantly in the afternoon, especially in Campania, Basilicata and Puglia. This disturbance will be pushed by strong winds from the Sirocco and then from the Libeccio that will cause some storm surges on the exposed coasts. By the evening the disturbed front will abandon Italy, bringing back an atmospheric calm.
From Thursday to Holy Saturday the pressure will rise again and the African anticyclone will bring sunshine and a mild climate to most of the regions.
Easter and Easter Monday
This latest disturbed system could influence the Easter holidays, first in the North (Sunday 31) and then in many regions for Easter Monday. Confirmation of this trend is expected in the next few days.
