A 51-year-old woman was hospitalized with serious injuries after drinking dishwasher liquid instead of wine at a bar in Milan.
The woman was at the bar with her partner when she ordered another glass of wine. The bar owner, a 53-year-old woman, poured dishwasher liquid into a wine glass, mistaking it for wine.
After the first sip, the woman immediately felt ill and started vomiting. Her partner asked the owner to show him the bottle and discovered the mistake. He then called for help and the police and the woman was taken to the hospital.
The woman suffered injuries to her esophagus, oral cavity and uvula. Her condition is serious but not life-threatening. Doctors are monitoring her closely to assess any permanent damage.
The owner of the bar was reported for grievous bodily harm. Her bar was seized.
