The investigating judge of the Court of Benevento, Dr. Pietro Vinetti, accepting the request of the lawyer Vittorio Fucci, ordered the archiving because the fact does not constitute a crime against the mayor of San Nicola Manfredi, Arturo Leone Vernillo, accused of aggravated defamation.
The mayor had been the subject of a complaint by former city councilor Onori, currently a Marshal of the Air Force and a candidate on the opposing list.
According to Onori, Vernillo defamed him in some video messages published on Facebook during the 2021 election campaign, which led to Vernillo being elected mayor of San Nicola Manfredi.
In the request to oppose the archiving, the current opposition councilor, Francesco Cilento, and the former councilor Maria Panico were also cited as witnesses. Mayor Vernillo has already given his trusted lawyer, Vittorio Fucci, the mandate to proceed with the compensation of moral and image damages.
