After the resounding success of the first edition, the “Ceveze, the Black Gold of Vesuvius” event is back. Three days of music, entertainment, gastronomy, sports, rediscovery of ancient flavors, tradition and conviviality. The event will be held on July 5-6-7. The event is organized by the SOCIAL PROMOTION ASSOCIATION “APS LA ZABATTA”, with the patronage of the Municipality of Ottaviano, and will take place in Località Zabatta – Via Recupe in Ottaviano.

The APS La Zabatta Association and the Territory
The APS La Zabatta was born with the aim of designing and putting into practice the qualities of the individual contradaioli to make the territory of Zabatta, located in the heart of the Vesuvius National Park, more livable. Through the organization of recreational-cultural events and more, the association aims to restore civic dignity to this extraordinary portion of the Vesuvian territory.
Mulberry, the Star Fruit
The festival highlights a peculiar fruit, the “Black Gold” mulberries of Zabatta. For centuries, this fruit has been a pillar of the local economy, so much so that a year’s earnings could guarantee a daughter’s dowry and marriage. Farmers brought this noble product to the best holiday destinations such as Capri, Ischia and Sorrento, where they offered tourists a taste of mulberries served on a leaf.
The Event Program
Friday July 5th, 20:00 pm: the inaugural moment will see the participation of the Parish Priest of San Leonardo di Noblac, Don Felice Aquino. At 20:30 pm, the theater company “La Porta Accanto Jr” will perform in an engaging show. Afterwards, the public will be able to enjoy a rap musical event with “BEMA” and, finally, a dance event with 70s-80s-90s music curated by Damasco DJ.
Saturday 6th July: the day will be dedicated to tradition and music. At 22:30 pm, “La Quadriglia di Taurano” and the group “Zi Riccardo e le Donne della Tamorra” will bring Vesuvian culture and folklore to the stage. In addition, there will be space for classical music with the “Gruppo Masiello Mandolino”.
Sunday July 7th, 8:00 am: grand finale with the “I Sentieri del Vesuvio” foot race, a sporting challenge for running enthusiasts and nature lovers.
The President of the APS La Zabatta Association wanted to underline the commitment to create a varied artistic program, which can involve all age groups: from the very young with the theater, to the young with the rap performance, up to the adults with classical and folk music. The artistic direction, entrusted once again to Sasà Giordano, promises high quality shows. But the true protagonist of the festival remains the Gelsa, a delicious fruit that will delight all guests and curious people. Don't miss the opportunity to experience the magic of the Gelsa in a historical and evocative setting like the Zabatta.
