The flames and fires in the municipalities of Cercola and Somma Vesuviana due to forest fires and those involving waste and brushwood in Giugliano in Campania and Afragola due to waste fires have been extinguished.
This was communicated by the Prefect of Naples, Michele Di Bari. The fires are monitored at the table set up in the Prefecture with representatives of the police force, firefighters, the regional Soru and the municipalities involved.
Interventions were also carried out by the fire brigade teams of the Terra dei Fuochi activated thanks to the agreement stipulated with the Campania Region.
In recent days - the Prefecture reports - the prevention of fires and waste dumping by the Italian Army contingent 'Strade Sicure' has also been strengthened with the modification and updating of the patrol program.
The itineraries and the program of activities have been constantly updated, in order to cover the areas considered most at risk.
The prevention activity underway in the last three months has led to 11 joint Action days, 80 second level missions with mixed army-local police patrols, 42 missions with military drones with 28 hours of overflight, 61 reports, fines for a total of 1.400.000 euros and the seizure of 31 businesses and approximately 40 vehicles.
The timely reporting of 23 fires allowed the immediate intervention of the firefighters, in order to limit damage to people and the environment.
