“I find the news that the Customs of Torre Annunziata it is about to be merged with that of Castellammare di Stabia, smaller and less important than the one in Oplonti.
For this reason, I can only share the deep concerns addressed to the Regional Director of ADM by the President of Confartigianato Imprese of Naples, in which he asks to protect the port of Torre del Greco.
Moreover, this would be the second episode after the closure of the Torre del Greco Customs House, a prospect that, once again, causes anxiety among the numerous economic operators involved in import/export.
It is worth remembering that the port of Torre Annunziata is a fundamental hub, which includes a territorial office of enormous strategic importance for the territory and for the city community, which is why last February I already filed a parliamentary question aimed at preventing the amalgamation of some competences of the Customs and Monopolies Agency.
Therefore, I appeal once again to the Government to prevent the theft of this strategic asset which – due to its history, professionalism and calibre – must remain in the exclusive availability of the Oplonti community, in order to avoid a clear weakening of our port architecture to the advantage of other infrastructures”.
