In the early hours of the morning, agents of the State Police, together with the military of the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Salerno, with the support of canine units and special forces, participated in a high-impact operation ordered by the Provincial Police Chief, which involved Pagani and the surrounding municipalities.
During the operation, which involved more than 100 men and the support of reinforcements, 15 searches were carried out for drugs and weapons.
At the end of the operations, a total sum of approximately 64.000 euros in cash was seized, considered to be the result of illicit activities related to drug dealing, in addition to a blank pistol with the red cap removed and 90 9×17 mm caliber bullets.
The gun and ammunition were seized for further technical investigations. In particular, the money was found during the search of a commercial activity in Pagani, whose owner was reported at large for money laundering.
The weapon and ammunition, however, were found in an abandoned building in Pagani, along with material for packaging narcotics, which was also seized.
Furthermore, the Carabinieri of the Territorial Labor Inspectorate of Salerno suspended the business activity controlled in Pagani for the use of irregular labor, with fines exceeding 30.000 euros. The entire area affected by the operation was patrolled by the Police Forces, who checked 112 people and 80 vehicles.
