Vittorio Ciccarelli, a 42-year-old from Piedimonte Matese, died at the “major burns” center of the Cardarelli hospital in Naples.
Last week, after an argument at home with his father, he set himself on fire.
The incident dates back to September 11, when, following a family argument that required the intervention of the Carabinieri, Ciccarelli had threatened to commit an extreme act. He had with him two containers of flammable liquid and a lighter.
In an attempt to stop him, a policeman tried to steal his lighter, but Ciccarelli He kicked the liquid onto the stairs and started it on fire.
Four carabinieri and a firefighter were also injured while trying to save him.
The flames immediately engulfed it, and four carabinieri along with a firefighter were injured in the intervention.
The burns suffered by Ciccarelli were too serious and, after five days of agony, he died in hospital. The body was returned to the family for the funeral.
