Two joint-stock companies based in Montepaone, which ran five supermarkets, were placed under preventive seizure by the Guardia di Finanza. This measure was carried out as part of an investigation that led to the arrest of entrepreneur Paolo Paoletti, 51, and two other people, accused of exploiting the 60 supermarket employees.
The total value of the companies is estimated at 27 million euros. The seizure and arrests were decided by the judge for preliminary investigations at the request of the deputy prosecutors Saverio Sapia and Giulia Pantano, with the coordination of the acting prosecutor Vincenzo Capomolla.
The investigations were conducted by the financial police of the Gico of the Economic and Financial Police Unit of Catanzaro.
In addition to Paoletti, the labor consultant Maria Teresa Panariello, 48, and the administrative manager Anna Valentino, 52, were arrested and placed under house arrest. Furthermore, the managers of the AC, 51, and PG, 52, stores were ordered to remain in their municipality of residence.
