The shortage of on-call doctors is reaching worrying proportions in the Sannio, where there is a low level of participation by professionals in covering shifts emergency medical Service, considered less attractive than outpatient activity or the profession of family doctor. The situation has worsened with the lack of 94 doctors in the elective cycle, a figure that replaces the traditional medical guard, in the areas of the territory.
The ASL of Benevento has called for Wednesday 23 October, at the headquarters in via Oderisio, all the doctors included in the rankings to assign temporary assignments aimed at filling the gaps in the shortage areas. However, the health company has specified that the absence at the call, if not justified and proven, will be considered a renunciation of the assignment, with exclusion from future assignments.
For doctors unable to attend in person, it will still be possible to be represented by a trusted delegate, as provided for by the regulation. The emergency medical service in Sannio once again underlines the difficulty of attracting healthcare personnel to services considered more difficult than other roles, accentuating a crisis that risks compromising healthcare in the most isolated areas.
