A hard blow to the heart of the PNRR: corruption and shady business put the country's future plans at risk.
The investigation by the European Public Prosecutor's Office has revealed a criminal organization that infiltrated the heart of the projects financed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, intended to relaunch the Italian economy and modernize the country.
Rigged contracts, public funds diverted to private interests and essential services such as the reception of migrants compromised: this is the disturbing picture that emerged from the operation “The Good Lobby”.
Unscrupulous entrepreneurs, corrupt professionals, and complicit public officials have profited from the reconstruction, stealing precious resources from local communities and putting the future of entire regions at risk.
The consequences of this scandal are very serious: delays in the works, increased costs, erosion of citizens' trust in the institutions and damage to the international image of our country.
The projects financed with PNRR funds, intended to create new jobs, improve infrastructure and promote the ecological transition, risk remaining unfinished or being carried out with lower quality standards.
Neapolitan entrepreneurs are also involved in the investigation
And this morning, State Police officers from the Frosinone Flying Squad and the Central Operations Service of the Central Anti-Crime Directorate of Rome executed personal precautionary measures and seizures issued by the GIP of the Court of Frosinone as part of Operation “The Good Lobby”.
The measures are directed against a group of people strongly suspected of criminal association aimed at corruption for the awarding of public contracts financed by the Pnrr and for the management of migrant reception.
Among the suspects, who include entrepreneurs and professionals from the provinces of Frosinone and Napoli, in addition to officials and employees of a municipality in the Frosinone area, some were placed under house arrest and others subjected to interdictory measures, such as the ban on entering into contracts with the public administration.
