Today, at the Government Palace, an important memorandum of understanding was signed between the Prefect of Naples, Michele Di Bari, and the Provincial President of the Italian Tobacconists' Federation (FIT), Francesco Marigliano. This agreement aims to prevent crime in monopoly retailers and encourage the adoption of anti-robbery video alarm systems.
The agreement, which follows the national framework agreement renewed on 11 April between the Ministry of the Interior and the Federation, represents a further step towards strengthening provincial security, in particular for the tobacconist sector, which is frequently the target of robberies, theft, scams, smuggling and counterfeiting.
The protocol has as its primary objective the improvement of prevention and contrast activities to these crimes. In fact, it provides for the adoption of passive defense measures, such as safes, armored doors and anti-intrusion alarm systems, in addition to the installation of modern video surveillance tools directly connected to the operations rooms of the Police Forces.
Training programs and dissemination of safety practices are also planned to reduce the risk of criminal episodes in tobacconists.
“For the entire category of tobacconists, this is a further step forward towards greater safety. But not only that: the agreement with the Prefecture also extends to the safety of the territory.
The direct connection of the cameras of our tobacconists with the Police Force could allow timely interventions by the Police and Carabinieri, with a strong deterrent effect for criminals and greater safety for tobacconists and citizens,” declared the Provincial President of FIT, Francesco Marigliano
