Cicerale. A real attack on the environment was foiled in the heart of the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park. The Carabinieri discovered and seized a gravel crushing and processing plant of over 3000 square meters, built illegally in the bed of the Alento river.
An illegal activity that, if it had not been discovered, would have continued to devastate one of the most precious natural sites in Italy.
The plant, without any authorization, operated undisturbed, altering the balance of the ecosystem and putting the local flora and fauna at risk. The operation, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Vallo della Lucania, has led to the seizure of the entire area and the machinery used for illegal mining. Those responsible risk heavy criminal sanctions.
